I know there’s a lot of tension after Tumblr’s new policy annouced for December 17th, but reblog this if you aren’t leaving Tumblr so that other blogs can know they aren’t going to be completely alone!
Let me be clear. I’m sick of this puritanical bullshit I’m seeing. YOU DONT HAVE TO POST PORN TO HAVE ALL YOUR SHIT FLAGGED. This is not a porn blog and I have almost half or more of my posts marked as pornographic and in violation. Pictures of trees. Pictures of my pets. Pictures that are warmly colored. You are not high and mighty and pure, and they’re coming for you, too. You won’t get emails. You will just get little stripes across your posts that says THIS IS IN VIOLATION. It will probably be a picture of your mom, or a kitten. Just FYI.
Next: please stop telling me that my completely innocent posts have been flagged. I know. I went through my entire blog twice yesterday and today and filed appeals. Me alone? Almost seventy images. Trust me: A. They aren’t going to fix it. but B. If They Do. IT WONT BE FOR A LONG TIME. They’ve marked everything.
IN THAT VEIN: Do not let any of these asshole antis/purity culture twats shame you. I can guarantee that none of you with gen blogs have anything on there that is anything you should feel bad for. You are being punished because a higher up in Yahoo/Verizon thought it would be cool to use ‘porn’ as an excuse to throw 80+ percent of its user base under the bus. Chances are good that you’re queer, too. That’s not an accident, but it’s also not your fault. Hold your head high. Walk away. We artists and authors and fan folk? WE LOVE YOU. YOU ARE GOOD PEOPLE. YOU DIDN’T DESERVE THIS.
I cannot tell you how many purges like these I’ve gone through. All I can say is, your tribe is your home, not a site. Your tribe is here. I love you guys, it’s going to be okay. See you all over on Pillowfort and Twitter, alright?
Can we talk about how Ash’s chikorita’s first thought when released from it’s pokeball was to immediately turn around, rub against his leg, and look up at him as if to say “I love you so much. Hi there!”
Then Ash points at the opponent’s girafarig and immediately goes to face the foe. Yes, Ash looks a little annoyed, but he just points, doesn’t yell, just points.
This is why I love Pokémon so much. They aren’t just for battling, they are friends, companions. They love their trainers, at least those trainers that treat their Pokémon well. I would love to love in that world, where you make all these friends who will fight for you, knowing that they make you proud and safe.
so are we not going to talk about girafarig’s other head just weirdly turning its head towards you and showing off its teeth, signaling it absolutely wants to kill you?
i think the most mind boggling part of this is that theres no set in stone plan for how they’re gonna define “bannable”. They haven’t explained how to prevent your blog from beinng deleted. They haven’t clarified whats considered nsfw, and their current filters certainly don’t understand. Will you be banned for having previous nsfw content on your blog? Should you delete it? I have over 90,000 posts. Do I search every single one to find what might be nsfw? Is it only nsfw content after the purge? Would that in turn even affect anything? This is such an empty plan, at least with what they’re barely willing to tell us
the tag “fur-ry” (minus the dash) is among those in the site-side blacklist, and is why so much artwork and so many blogs are suddenly invisible from the search.
provided this isn’t a temporary measure, i strongly advise to remove the “fur-ry” tag and use stand-in tags such as “anthro” and “kemono”, since neither are affected.
the New Xkit extension “Tag Replacer” is an easy way to swap your tags over, and you can change it back if this issue gets resolved!

there’s a good chance i’ve missed a few, but hopefully, this can make things a bit easier to manage
Reblogging this because a lot of blogs are affected. If people can’t search for your work this is why. Going to have to spend some time this weekend to fix the tags on my posts too.
i dont know how exactly you see the words “pedophiles need to burn but removing ALL nsfw content from a website where many people create and sell it just to pay their rent is a bad thing because they will be hurt, if staff actually moderated their website at all this wouldnt even be a problem” and read it as “i support pedophiles and hentai freaks and i think no one should do anything about them” but like congrats on making it to however old you are without evolving your reading comprehension past the second grade i guess
also anon and everyone else supporting this stupid-ass decision by staff is wholly ignorant of a plethora of other issues involved w the algorithm they have in place
fuckin. countless lgbt blogs n posts are automatically flagged as nsfw and susceptible to being banned, random pictures are for some reason or another flagged as nsfw, etc
its a broken system completely incapable of functioning properly, therefore putting basically anyone on the site at risk, Because tumblr absolutely refuses to, for even one second, actually put effort into moderating and filtering content that is ACTUALLY harmful
they don’t care about keeping adult content away from children- they can’t be bothered to actually properly deal with CP and pornbots (the reasons tumblr got taken out of the app store and the Google play store) so they’re getting rid of all content their system seems adult in an attempt to get back into the stores
if they really wanted to just keep adult content away from children, they would improve their safe mode filter, implement some form of age verification (which even if really simple actually goes a long way to preventing accidental exposure) and just actually get rid of porn bots and cp
there’s no moral reasoning for this new decision, and it does not work properly at all
