Most people criticizing sex positivity don’t seem to know what it even is, can y’all keep this in mind before putting those types of posts on my dash?
Like… sex positivity is supporting people engaging in healthy and safe sex acts. It’s spreading sex ed and shutting down anyone who shames others for having sex for any reason (doing it “too much,” doing it “the wrong way”, etc)
When you see posts that are like “let’s move on from sex positivity and start supporting healthy sexuality and blah blah blah”, OP is either deeply misinformed on what sex positivity is or is trying to mislead you, probably the former tbh but some folks out there do have motivation to deceive people on this subject (that motivation being a desire to control peoples sex lives, so we’re more likely looking at radical feminists and conservative Christians in that scenario, but also please don’t assume malice when ignorance is just as likely)
Before you criticize something, please know what it is
Also fun fact, sex positivity is pretty fuckin explicit about the idea that the ability for a person to NOT consent to sex was just as critical as their right to consent without shame. So don’t buy into lies about it only pushing people into yeses either.
