I’m in dire need of help right now, so I’m opening commissions and tarot readings.
- Lineart/Sketches: 20$
- Basic pieces: 35$
- Shaded pieces: 45$
- Character ref sheets: 60$ +10 for NSFW reference bits.
- For all pieces: +10 for each extra character, +15 for NSFW
Readings:
I use old Rider Waite, Labyrinthos and three card spreads. I will use custom spreads by request if given a link to the requested spread. My deck is an heirloom Rider-Waite that’s been in the family for three generations, and it’s a blunt little fucker.
- Daily three card spread: 5$
- 4-6 card spreads: 10$
- 6+ card spreads: 15$
My wages are being garnished and my paychecks are 2/3 what I usually make thanks to that.
I was deferred from donating plasma due to taking hormones. (basically bc I’m trans, idek)
I got a phone call saying I make 180$ too much to qualify for food stamps, because they look at gross income, not my situation.
I don’t know what to do until I get this garnishment taken care of, and I’m still waiting on paperwork to come in to get on a loan rehabilitation program, but even then, it’ll be a few months until they stop. I’m tried of asking for help. I know you guys are tired of seeing me ask for help. But still. I need help.
I am also taking donations here at paypal.me.
Anything helps. Everything helps, and is GREATLY appreciated.
Commission/Reading details under the cut! (As well as a sample tarot reading!)
Hey guys commissions make great holiday presents!!!
So here’s the lowdown:
Nik’s wages are getting garnished. Which is to say he’s missing 1/3 his pay.
In one month, 1/3 of his pay is $600.
Yes, you read that right. No that’s not a typo. Six hundred.
Why is he getting garnished? Because his fully-paid-off government student debt information was sold to a third party collection agency.
- That’s student debt which was paid off.
- The information was sold.
- This is a Zombie Debt.
- As it was originally a Government Student Loan, they’re allowed to garnish without warning.
So he’s got to live with them garnishing it until they’ll review his case at the federal level. That can take a while. There’s paperwork he has to go through and sign, but they have to post it to him first. He’s been waiting for nearly a month now for them to get the paperwork to him.
2/3 of his pay is still there right? He works fulltime! That’s a whole $1200 after the garnishment! Well, uh.
- $845 of his pay is rent.
- $300 of his pay is car payment – there wasn’t choice about that, he chose the cheapest car on the lot which fulfilled the AirCheck requirements for emissions and age
- $220 of his pay is car insurance
- $120 of his pay is electricity (supplier chosen by his apartment complex)
- $70 of his pay is Internet connectivity (supplier the only one for his apartment complex)
- $70 of his pay is Cellphone
- $60 of his pay is petrol to go in the car
- $50 is paying off a loan
- $60 of his pay is food for the month (yes, really, yes it’s sometimes lower than that, no it’s not just noodles)
- (that adds up to $1,795, by the way.)
I’m not reblogging this so he can have spending money for the holidays. I’m reblogging this so he can have a roof over his head and transport to and from work, and the legally mandated car insurance to go with it. At the moment, he’s not going to have enough money to renew his Testosterone Prescription until the New Year (when his insurance rolls over)
How is he going to survive? I have no idea. But taking commissions for art and Tarot readings is one avenue being pursued; other avenues include driving for Lyft, but there’s a problem there: His licence is for Alabama, and he lives in Texas. Lyft will only let him drive in Texas with a Texas licence. We’re currently working on that; if we’re lucky that will be dealt with in December and he can start driving for Lyft as soon as possible.
It’s bad enough that right now he’s considering literally living out of his car until the Garnishment issue has been dealt with. This would, of course, ruin any chance of him using Lyft as a further point of money earning, as well as make it very difficult for him to earn money taking commissions, and on top of everything else it would make mail difficult to get as well, but he’d at least be able to get to work. Oh, and he’d have to leave his pet bird with someone. Gino is a 30-year-old cockatiel whom Nik has had for over 20 years, and it would devastate them both to do this.
Can I help him? I’m a student. I’m currently going through every single flexible-work option available to me, but the simple truth is that I live in New Zealand and the exchange rate for anything I could send him is terrible. $600USD is about $890NZD and that’s more than I myself see in a month.
Have I been crying about this? Oh you sure betcha.
If you can’t afford to commission something, not even the $5 Tarot reading, I’d like you to consider reblogging this, even linking to it on Facebook. Maybe it’ll reach someone who can afford to commission something.
