My friends, it is difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel in these uncertain and frankly evil times. And so it is easy to be disappointed that we lost ground in the Senate. But no mainstream party of any platform has ever had to face the kind of difficulties that the Democrats did during this midterm, especially since – as I said to a friend in a comment – Democrats, even pissed-off ones, don’t show up to vote unless there’s a Presidency on the line.
And yet, we took the House. We flipped multiple governorships. And the link above passed.
This is why governorships matter. This is why local elections matter. Republicans can pass laws that favor the for-profit prison system, but when states pass local laws that take huge chunks out of it, the hell is the Party Apparently Obsesssed With States’ Rights going to do? If the GOP has control of every branch of federal government – which they no longer do as of this morning – but Democrats (or, more broadly, just the Left) have control of the states… well.
See you all in 2020.
