that’s a very small example, but basically mojang decided to “refresh” the game’s look by changing every single texture and making them the new defaults. which means no more classic textures.
the pack is still in development, which means it won’t be released just yet. but when it is released, it’ll be mandatory, which i hate.
like, i understand wanting to refresh the look of your game, especially after 7-ish years. but half the reason i play minecraft is for the way it looks. if i wanted different textures, i’d download a resource pack.
once the new textures are mandatory, it’ll have to download a pack to use the original textures, which sucks. it’s extra work to fix something i had no choice over.
