here’s a shout out to closeted sapphics (especially trans sapphics) who rely on the internet because you can’t be out irl, so you find solace online.

closeted sapphics who sit their phones screen-down on tables so no one can see if a long distance friend sends them a message with anything that may raise eyebrows at the dinner table.

closeted sapphics who switch tabs away from tumblr and messaging platforms when their parents walk in (especially those who get yelled at for this by parents who notice, told that if they don’t want anyone seeing it they shouldn’t be doing it, who are treated like desiring privacy and freedom is the same as committing a crime)

closeted sapphics who feel like their true self sits somewhere between their irl life that they go through in masks of straightness, and their online personas where they can be as out and proud as they wish.

closeted sapphics whose online friends are the only ones who will truly, fully, accept who they are, but who have the importance of online friendships diminished in front of them by irl friends and family.

closeted sapphics who need the internet to feel they can freely exist are so, so strong.
